Energy Efficiency
---One of our most important responsibilities is to help our customers conserve energy. This can be accomplished in many different ways. One of the most important, least expensive ways for our customers to conserve energy is to maintain their equipment. An annual clean/tune will help keep your current equipment operating as efficiently as it was designed. It is also important to make sure your furnace filters and humidifier pads are in good condition. Dirty filters require the furnace to work harder and longer. Humidifier pads that are full of hardness or falling apart limit the amount of moisture transferred to the air increasing your water bill.
---Do you have a digital, set-back thermostat? If not, you may want to have us install a new thermostat for you. It will save you money if you use the set-back feature and provide tighter temperature control than a dial type of stat improving comfort. We can install these starting at about $100.
---Upgrading your equipment and sometimes your system of ductwork or piping is the next step towards energy efficiency. Today’s furnaces can operate at or above 95% AFUE. The same efficiency can be found in a new boiler. If you use fuel oil you may want to consider a fuel switch to natural or LP gas. If you use LP gas and are thinking of replacing your air conditioner you may want to consider Hybrid heat with a new furnace and air source heat pump. We can discuss these options and products with you and let you make the decision that makes the most sense for you.
---Building your dream home or looking for a long term energy solution? Geo-thermal is something to consider. Visit our geo-thermal page to find out more about how you can harness the sun’s free energy. It does take a large up-front investment but may be something you want to consider.
---There are a number of ways you can improve your home’s overall efficiency by upgrading you plumbing too. Check out our plumbing page for water saving as well as gas saving options.
---There are many more efficiency improvements coming to market. Some are already here. We feel strongly about the Mr. Slim product line. Check them out at the link below or give us a call.
